Rules in Effect: Yes. Training deadline was 12/31/2009 for all existing operators. New and replacement A/B operators must be trained in 30 days. Class C operators must be trained BEFORE assuming duties.
Summary: In August 2008, Colorado became the fifth state to require UST operator training for Class A, B, and C UST operators. Training is a one-time requirement. Colorado does not provide training but allows ICC certification or another state-approved method. All operators must be trained and certified by 12/31/2009. Trained A or B operators must also perform monthly and annual inspections starting in 2010.
