New Mexico

Rules in Effect: Yes

Summary: In June 2009, New Mexico became the tenth state to require UST operator training for Class A, B, and C UST operators. The same training for above-ground storage tank (AST) systems is also required. Refresher training is required every five years. New Mexico does not provide training, but allows ICC certification or another state-approved method. Training is phased in between now and the summer of 2012, depending on how many UST/AST sites the owner has.
